Joe

Joe went on to do teacher training and developed a passion for supporting students who had reading difficulties. Joe’s teaching experience has included two years in the Torres Strait. His special gift has been the ability to work with students who were not expected to be able to read.

Joe believes that reading is 'caught not taught' which means he likes to introduce students to texts that are interesting and based on life experiences. Joe has been retired from teaching for 25 years and is about to celebrate a milestone, his 80th birthday. Much of his spare time is spent at Lotus Place encouraging others to catch his love of reading.
