Independent Inquiry Into Child Sexual Abuse

The Inquiry offers an unprecedented opportunity to examine the extent to which institutions and organisations in England and Wales have taken seriously their responsibility to protect children.

This Inquiry will investigate whether public bodies and other non-state institutions in England and Wales have taken seriously their responsibility to protect children from sexual abuse, and make meaningful recommendations for change in the future.

Northern Ireland Historic Institutional Abuse Inquiry

The Historic Institutional Abuse Inquiry was an independent Inquiry set up to investigate abuse of children in residential institutions (but not schools) in Northern Ireland between 1922 and 1995.

The Inquiry into Historical Institutional Abuse officially fulfilled its Terms of Reference on 30 June 2017 and it is now closed.
